Suimeikan Karukaya Sanso Hotel Takayama , Takayama (Gifu)

The highlight of my stay was the massive outdoor hot spring situated right by the river. The bath is a mixed-gender experience, so swimwear is not allowed, but a large towel can be rented for wrapping up. The view was absolutely stunning, especially in the fall with the changing leaves and mountain vistas. It’s a unique experience I highly recommend!

Dining here was simply good! The multi-course meals were exquisite, showcasing local ingredients such as fresh fish and vegetables. The dinner set the tone for a cozy and authentic experience, with a rich variety of flavors. It was the perfect culinary accompaniment to our relaxing stay in the beautiful surroundings.

I loved the ambiance of my Japanese-style room, complete with tatami flooring and futons. The room felt welcoming and comfortable, providing me with a true ryokan experience. I appreciated all the amenities, including a fridge and the yukata they provided for wearing around the hotel. It made my stay even more special!

The private hot spring baths were a dream! I was fortunate enough to book one with a amazing view of the snow-covered mountains. It felt incredibly serene watching nature while soaking in the warm waters. Each bath had its own unique charm, and the opportunity to relax surrounded by stunning scenery was truly lovely.
